We want to be your "in house" laser service.
We understand that ultimately your satisfaction will depend on the value added from our service as well as how well the project flows from concept to the final product. In order to assure a streamlined process, we offer the following services:
Initial Project Consultation
The better a project is planned from the beginning, the better it will end. We typically try and determine the following things:
What does the customer want... do they know exactly what they want or are they looking for suggestions?
What is the priority of the following factors:
Design Value - Lead Time - Budget
How do we assure the product we provide will work for your capabilities? How can we provide a service that will work well with your product flow?
What can we do to help you sell the project?
We often find that in asking these questions we can narrow the options down to a couple specific proposals. We typically will provide budget pricing, sketches or renderings, samples and examples of past work. We want to help move the project forward.
Project approval prints
We feel that it is very important to document the project well, before any of the “real work” starts. We aim to answer the questions in the initial stages, eliminate room for varied interpretations and reduce any unpleasant surprises that can occur.
In some cases our customers have the capability to do this in house and simply provide us with this information. Many customers find we are well versed in detailing for design & production and our services translate into a lower end cost. In either case, we assure we have all the details approved and correct before we manufacture your product.
Process Detailing and CNC Optimization
For each assembly we produce a drawing to our standard format that details each component used in the assembly. We also provide our production department with the machine settings, secondary operations information and any special instructions for your project. For each component we generate a machine file and an associated print. All of this information is cataloged and information is stored on our server database indefinitely. Any part we have produced in the past can be recalled and reproduced at any time.
A note on file formats:
Many customers ask: "What file format can you take?" and they get a question back: "How good is the drawing?" If the drawing is good, send it. We can most likely use any format you have.
A good vector file has closed objects with minimal nodes and smooth contours. The best vector file for our purposes is an AutoCAD file and will have closed polylines with tangent lines and arcs (unless a corner is intended)
A good raster file would be clean and print ready: at a minimum of the size of the final product, 300 dpi min resolution and unaliased. We convert all raster images to a bitmap.
We can easily convert a good raster file to a good vector file, and vice versa.
If the description you just read made absolutely no sense to you (or you skimmed it), no worries… You will most likely find we are the lowest cost option for generating quality laser ready artwork. We have LOTS of practice, have many programs we can use and know exactly what needs to be done to make a good product. It is usually easier (and less costly) to start fresh than to try and fix a file that is not quite right.
