Inlaid Wood Flooring Construction Detail

Material

All of our inlaid flooring components are manufactured on from 1/4" solid hardwoods that are pre selected for quality and uniform appearence. The manufactured designs are then pressed onto a plywood backer to provide stability and to come up to the final thickness of the flooring.

Production

The first step in the process of producing the wood floor components is the customer selects the design and materials to be used in thier product. We then pull the material from our stock or order the hardwood if needed.

The 1/4" hardwood is then roughed to blank size and the "puzzle pieces" that make up your design are laser cut from the material. We then take those parts and assemble them into the design and tape the design on the face to hold it together.

At this point the face is pressed to a plywood backer.

The oversized part is then routed to the finished size. After this step we sand the face to it's final thickness.

Finally we apply a light coat of poly urethane sealer to order to protect the product from warpage due to the gain or loss of moisture.
