Inlay is the craft of carving out an area in a base material and applying a contrasting material to achieve a decorative design.

This process can be used on completed parts and is a good option if the design uses dis-similar materials. An inlay can be added to any flat surface on a laser compatible material.

Once the design and materials are chosen, we take the base material and raster engrave the design. The inlay design is cut and adhered with an appropriate adhesive to give a good bond, and be non-reactive to the finishing process. Once the materials are set we prepare the part for finishing. The inlay may require finishing which is typically done by our customers.
