At Advanced Laser Cutting we have a long history of providing marquetry to production manufacturers as well as small companies wanting to add a custom detail.
History
Tradtional marquetry was a tedious and time consuming process that only the most wealthy consumers could afford to add to thier furniture. With the advent of laser technology combined with some of the old school methods we are able to produce designs with much more efficiency and accuracy. This brings the process into the reach of the average consumer.
Production
Marquetry is produced from 1/42nd thick veneer, available in a wide variety of cuts and species.
We hand select from our to stock to assure that the material produces the best tone and look for the design being produced.
The veneer is then placed on the laser to be cut apart like"puzzle pieces".
Those parts are than taken to our custom designed assembly stations and fit together like a puzzle would be.
On the face a white or brown veneer tape is applied to hold the marquetry skin together.
At this point many of our customer wish to do thier own pressing and machining but we do offer hot or cold pressing to a core and veneer sanding.
