Marquetry 'mark-ah-tree'
Marquetry is a veneer skin (typically 1/42nd thick) applied as a
facing in order to add a decorative element to a wood product.
Our process for producing marquetry starts with working with the customer
to design and engineer the line art that will be used. Once the design is approved
and materials are selected, we then use the line art to digitally produce and optimize
the "puzzle pieces" of the design. The veneer is then laser cut and hand assembled
with a gummed paper tape on the face of the material.
At this point, the marquetry work is complete. Depending on the customer's
requirements, we also offer hot and cold pressing to a substrate, tape removal, sanding, and machining.
